CARBONDALE, Ill. — The SIU Women’s Club is now accepting applications for a pair of scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year: the Dorothy Morris Traditional Student Scholarship and the Joyce Guyon Non-Traditional Scholarship.

Each of the annual scholarships is worth $2,000. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2024. Both scholarships are open to female undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum of 24 credits earned at the university. Preference will be given to applicants who attain junior or senior status by the conclusion of the spring 2024 semester.

Apply now

Applicants should complete the general SIU scholarship application at scholarships.siu.edu. Click on “View Opportunities” on the Saluki Scholarship Portal and enter “SIU Women’s Club” in the search box. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, career goals and aspirations, leadership experience, references and financial need.

The SIU Women’s Club Dorothy Morris Traditional Student Scholarship will go to a student whose college education began within a few years of high school graduation, while the recipient of the Joyce Guyon Non-Traditional Student Scholarship will be a woman whose college education has been interrupted in some way. The scholarships honor two SIU Carbondale first ladies who strongly supported women in academics.
