Next Let’s Talk Research focuses on digital identity

Digital identity is the topic of the next Let’s Talk Research virtual event for faculty researchers.

Sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the next monthly event is set for 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 on Microsoft Teams. Faculty and researchers should register here.

Jennifer Horton, associate dean of library affairs, and Kelly Alongi, senior research development specialist in the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration, will lead the session, titled “ORCID & SciENCV Essentials.” They will discuss the purpose and benefits of digital identifier platforms and how to create profiles on each.

ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a global, not-for-profit organization aimed at connecting researchers by providing unique, persistent identifiers as they engage in research, scholarship and innovation activities.

SciENCV helps researchers assemble the professional information needed for participation in federally funded research, among other things.

Questions regarding the ORCID and SciENCV Essentials session should be directed to orc@siu.edu.
