Mandated training to maintain discrimination-free and harassment-free campus starts Monday
Federally mandated training for maintaining a discrimination and harassment-free campus begins Monday, Oct. 16, and is due by Dec. 1, 2023. This training is in addition to the 2023 annual online Ethics Act Training.
All faculty and staff will receive an important email with the subject “SIU Mandatory Employee Training” sent by Safe Colleges that appears from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. This training is offered for the university to be compliant with the mandates of Title IX, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, as well as the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act.
Employees who completed the full version of the training within the last year will be enrolled in the refresher course. New employees, or those who have not previously completed the full version, will be enrolled in the comprehensive course. The full version of the training will likely take about two hours and the refresher training will take about an hour.
All faculty, staff, graduate assistants, undergraduate assistants, student employees, extra-help employees and volunteers must complete the training. If you need assistance, contact the Office of Equity and Compliance with questions at odetraining@siu.edu or 618-453-4807.
