Open forum for Student Engagement director candidate is Friday
A virtual open forum for a candidate for director of the Office of Student Engagement is set for 2:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11.
Johnnie Williams, who has seven years’ experience in student affairs, including as assistant director of student affairs at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science in Mobile, will discuss “Strategies for Engaging and Developing College Students.”
Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the virtual session. There will be a 15-minute Q&A after Williams’ presentation. Williams’ role at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science was recruiting and hiring staff and utilizing school data to develop and evaluate campus life programs. Williams has a bachelor’s degree in history from Stillman College and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Phoenix.

A second candidate, Marshall Hunt, the assistant principal and athletic director at Carbondale Middle School for Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 will conduct his 15-minute presentation via Zoom at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the virtual session. There will be a 15-minute Q&A after Hunt’s presentation.
Hunt has worked in the K-12 education system for several years. He earned a master’s degree in special education from Regent University and a bachelor’s degree in political science (K-8) from the University of South Alabama. He is pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and higher education from SIU.
