Upcoming Microsoft Teams Calling Q&A sessions in August
SIU Carbondale is in the process of adopting a modern calling solution: Microsoft Teams Calling (Teams VoIP). Due to the recent phone system failure that impacted much of the west wide of campus, the transition to Microsoft Teams Calling is occurring rapidly.
Although this phone system has the same functionalities that users are accustomed to, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) understands that it is a new system and may seem intimidating to some. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to ask questions, multiple Q&A sessions are being offered in Morris Library, Room 752. The dates and times are:
- Thursday, Aug. 3, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 10, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 17, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional sessions may be offered in the future. OIT has also developed SIU-specific guides and videos:
- Check for the dial pad in Teams (easy way to know if you currently have access to Teams Calling)
- Getting Started with Microsoft Teams Guide (a two-page quick start guide)
- Making Calls with Microsoft Teams Guide (a full guide to setting up and using MS Teams Calling)
- Video of Common Features (demonstrations of calling features)
The OIT team is also available to assist users in getting started with Microsoft Teams Calling and/or setting up call preferences. For assistance, users may contact SalukiTech at 618-453-5155 or salukitech@siu.edu.
