Handshake software training offered to faculty, staff
SIU’s Career Development Center is offering a series of free virtual faculty/staff Handshake training sessions to help university employees assist students in launching their careers.
The goal of the center is to ensure students are career ready and encourage them to begin thinking about their lives after graduation as soon as possible. Students use the Handshake platform to register for job fairs, and the training will enable faculty and staff to answer questions, direct students to the center’s office and guide them to be more effective in preparing for the future with the campuswide site.
Handshake is also used by other universities, and employers across the country use the platform to post their career openings, create events and message students.
The schedule for 2023 faculty and staff trainings, with sessions offered each day at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., includes:
- June 21.
- July 26.
- Aug. 31.
- Sept. 27. (This session will follow the university’s fall job fair.)
