Media Advisory: SIU Chancellor’s Scholarship surprise visits on Feb. 6
CARBONDALE, Ill. – Thirteen students in 12 Southern Illinois high schools will receive a surprise visit on Monday, Feb. 6 (rescheduled from Thursday), from Southern Illinois University Carbondale officials to congratulate them on receiving the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which covers tuition, mandatory fees, housing and food for four years.
Chancellor Austin A. Lane will visit Marion High School (9-9:30 a.m.), Herrin High School (10-10:30 a.m.), Carterville High School (11-11:30 a.m.), Carbondale Community High School (two students, noon-12:30 p.m.) and Murphysboro High School (2:30-3 p.m.). Reporters, photographers and news crews are invited to cover one or all of these visits.
