Media Advisory: SIU Chancellor’s Scholarship recipients to get surprise visits at schools

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Thirteen students in 12 Southern Illinois high schools will receive a surprise visit on Thursday, Feb. 2, from Southern Illinois University Carbondale officials to congratulate them on receiving the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which covers tuition, mandatory fees, room and board for four years. 

Chancellor Austin A. Lane will visit Herrin High School (8:30-9 a.m.), Marion High School (9:30-10 a.m.), Carterville High School (10:30-11 a.m.), Carbondale Community High School (two students, 12:30-1 p.m.) and Murphysboro High School (2:10-2:40 p.m.). Reporters, photographers and news crews are invited to cover one or all of these visits.
