by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. — About 600 high school Future Business Leaders of America students, along with their advisers, from throughout the Southern Illinois region are expected to attend the 66th annual FBLA Southern Area Conference on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

They will be participating in a variety of workshops and competitive events throughout the second and third floors at the Student Center and will also hear guest speakers and meet with officials from SIU’s College of Business and Analytics.

Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event. The best opportunity to obtain good photos, videos and interviews is during the opening session, set for 9:05-9:50 a.m. in Ballrooms C and D at the Student Center. During that time, several area and state FBLA officers will speak, along with candidates for FBLA offices and SIU officials.

For more information, or to inquire about other opportunities, contact Rachel Richey, director of enrollment management for the College of Business and Analytics, at rrichey@business.siu.edu or 618-453-7494.
