Media advisory: Fall commencement, ROTC commissioning
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover Southern Illinois University Carbondale students celebrating milestones Friday and Saturday.
Fall commencement will be on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Banterra Center, starting at 11 a.m. The academic achievements of more than 900 students will be recognized. More information is available at commencement.siu.edu.
On the day before (Friday, Dec. 16), two members of SIU’s Air Force ROTC will officially accept their appointments as second lieutenants in the Air Force during a commissioning ceremony from 3-5 p.m. at Morris Library Hall of Presidents and Chancellors. The new officers will take an oath of office, pin on their rank and exchange the traditional first salute with an enlisted member of any military branch of their choice.
