SIU Women’s Club now accepting scholarship applications
CARBONDALE, Ill. — The SIU Women’s Club is now accepting applications for two scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year: the Dorothy Morris Traditional Student Scholarship and the Joyce Guyon Non-Traditional Scholarship.
Each of the annual scholarships is worth $2,000. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2023. The scholarships are open to all female undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale if they have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum of 24 credits earned at the university. Preference is given to applicants who will have senior status at the conclusion of the spring 2023 semester.
Apply now
Applicants should complete the general SIU scholarship application, available online at scholarships.siu.edu. Then click on the “View Opportunities” on the Saluki Scholarship Portal and enter “SIU Women’s Club” in the search box to find the applications for the SIU Women’s Club scholarships as well as additional details.
The recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, career goals and aspirations, leadership experience, references and financial need. The SIU Women’s Club Dorothy Morris Traditional Student Scholarship will go to a student whose college education takes place within a few years of high school graduation, while the recipient of the Joyce Guyon Non-Traditional Student Scholarship will be a woman whose college education has been interrupted in some way.
The scholarships honor two SIU Carbondale “first ladies” who strongly supported women in academics.
