SIU hosting “I Stand with Immigrants” events Nov. 28-30

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale is sponsoring “I Stand with Immigrants,” a three-day action campaign for education, promoting understanding and advocacy, Nov. 28-30.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Students will speak

The highlight will be “Life Undocumented: This is My Story,” featuring a panel of SIU students telling their very own stories. The panel will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Students can still sign up to participate as panelists.

There will also be two workshops providing factual information and best practice details regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Rule. Both sessions are set for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Old Main Room at the Student Center.

Each session is limited to the first 20 people to register. The deadline to register for the Monday session is 11 p.m. Nov. 25, and the deadline to register for the Wednesday, Nov. 30, session is 11 p.m. Nov. 28.
