Virtual workshop will help faculty, staff and students cope with stress
Sky@SIUC, a registered student organization, is hosting its 16th SKY Happiness Retreat Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21-23. The virtual retreat will focus on helping participants handle stress by promoting connectedness, self-care and the mental well-being of students, faculty and staff.
The nine-hour virtual SKY Happiness Retreat workshop is a nationally acclaimed program via Zoom featuring breathwork, interactive group activities, experiential learning, evidence-based meditation, yoga, emotional intelligence training and other experiences.
There is a discounted cost of $30 for 10 SIU students, faculty and staff. If more people want to register, the University of Alabama, which receives funding, will consider a scholarship on the basis of availability of extra seats, but that is not guaranteed, said Diksha Mittal, a doctoral student in mass communication and media arts and president of the SKY RSO on campus.
The national director of the U.S. SKY campus programs will teach the retreat. The online event via Zoom runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 21, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22-23.
