SIU Education Day brings about 300 future teachers to campus
As part of the university’s response to the teacher shortage, nearly 300 high school and community college students who are planning to study education are on campus this morning (Oct. 17) during SIU Education Day.
On campus, the students will tour Morris Library, the Recreation Center, University Housing and other facilities and enjoy a School of Education Open House. They will experience a wide variety of special hands-on activities, including a meet and greet with faculty and staff, a panel discussion with current SIU students and faculty, and games. There are 16 local high schools along with John A. Logan College represented.
