Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge schedule for October

The Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge at Old Main has several university hosts lined up this month. Topics include cybersecurity, event planning and Safe Zone. 

Opened in September 2021, the lounge is a place for faculty and staff to meet in an informal setting and get to know one another across departments. The faculty-staff lounge is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and people are invited to bring their lunch or purchase food from the Student Center dining on the first floor.

The hosts for the month are: 

  • Monday, Oct. 3 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Friday, Oct 7 — “Protecting Valuable and Sensitive Information,” Information Technology.
  • Oct. 10 — Open lunch.
  • Oct. 12 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Oct. 14 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Oct. 17 — “Safe Zone Part 1: Foundational Concepts,” Student Multicultural Resource Center.
  • Oct. 19 — Event Planning Workshop, Gena Albert, First Year Experience; Vanessa Sneed, SIU Foundation; Sarah Vanvooren, Conference and Scheduling Services.
  • Oct. 21 — “Recognizing Fake Information,” Information Technology.
  • Oct. 24 — “Safe Zone Part II: Understanding Microaggression and the Harm It Causes,” Student Multicultural Resource Center.
  • Oct. 26 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
