Media Advisory: SIU to provide update to area schools, local legislators

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Austin A. Lane and other university officials will provide an update to superintendents and principals with nine Southern Illinois area schools, along with local legislators, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Student Center, Chancellor’s Lounge at Old Main. 

As part of SIU’s enhanced efforts to recruit and support students from the Southern Illinois region, the event will begin with check-in and breakfast, followed by introductions and a welcome, updates and a Q&A. 

State Sen. Terri Bryant and State Rep. Dave Severin plan to attend. Schools that have registered include: 

Trico Senior High School

Sparta High School

DuQuoin High School

Carterville High School

Murphysboro High School

Carbondale High School

Herrin High School

Vienna High School

Brehm Preparatory School
