SIU Carbondale welcomes 23 new faculty this fall

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale is welcoming 23 new tenure-track faculty to campus for the fall 2022 semester.

Meera Komarraju, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, notes that the university has added about 100 new tenure-track faculty over the past four years. That includes 26 new tenure-track faculty in fall 2021 and 30 and 21 new tenure-track faculty hires in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

“We selected these tenure-track faculty members through national searches, and they represent the very best in their respective disciplines,” Komarraju said. “We are pleased that these talented and accomplished tenure-track faculty members chose SIU Carbondale. These new faculty members are eager to engage our students in the classroom and their research/creative activity will bring us visibility and reinforce our status as a research intensive, comprehensive doctoral university.”
