Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge schedule for September

The Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge at Old Main has several university hosts lined up for this month. 

Opened in September 2021, the lounge is a place for faculty and staff to meet in an informal setting and get to know one another across departments. The faculty-staff lounge is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and people are invited to bring their lunch or purchase food from the Student Center dining on the first floor. 

Anyone interested in reserving the faculty-staff lounge for an event, or who would like to serve as a host, can email events@siu.edu. 

The hosts for the month are: 

  • Friday, Sept. 2 — “Let’s Talk Tech,” Information Technology.
  • Monday, Sept. 5 — Campus closed.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 7 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Sept. 9 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Sept. 12 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Sept. 14 — Closed for previously scheduled event.
  • Sept. 16 — Open lunch.
  • Sept. 19 — Open lunch.
  • Sept. 21 — Closed for event.
  • Sept. 23 — Open lunch.
  • Sept. 26 — “Understanding Hispanic/Latinx Students’ Issues and Characteristics and Best Practices for Better Retention Outcomes,” Student Multicultural Resource Center.
  • Sept. 28 — Event Planning Workshop, Gena Albert, First Year Experience; Vanessa Sneed, SIU Foundation; Sarah Vanvooren, Conference and Scheduling Services.
  • Sept. 30 — Open lunch.
