Digital signature virtual workshops available

The Office of Information Technology has a series of virtual workshops available for the university community to learn more about the new digital signature initiative on campus.

The electronic signature solutions will make the work lives of faculty and staff easier, expedite required approvals and reduce the amount of paper used by the university. The university as a whole is adopting digital signatures via Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for signing, which is different from Entrust, which is currently, and will remain in use.

All units are being encouraged to transition to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC when possible. Units can request the software through the IT Help portal, ithelp.siu.edu; there is a notice at the top of the Home tab with quick links to request the software, get information, and register for training.

The 30-minute virtual sessions feature the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for signing in action and provide an opportunity to learn how to use it. Registration signup is available here for the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 23 — 1:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 2 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., during the Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge at Old Main session.
  • Sept. 7 — 9:30 a.m.
  • Sept. 13 — 9:30 a.m.
  • Sept. 21 — 1:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 27 — 1:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 5 — 9:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 11 — 9:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 19 — 1:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 25 — 1:30 p.m.

During these sessions, participants will learn:

  • Why your department should use an electronic signing tool.
  • Who needs an Adobe Acrobat Pro DC license and the cost.
  • How to use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for signing.
  • How to get Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
  • Using electronic signatures on university documents.

SalukiTech staff can provide additional information about the sessions at 618-453-5155 or salukitech@siu.edu. The OIT recommends attending a session or speaking with SalukiTech staff before requesting the software.
