New system to facilitate proposal submissions
Research faculty throughout the SIU System soon will have an easier time submitting proposals thanks to a new consolidated system.
The Office of Sponsored Projects Administration, along with the vice chancellor for research, is installing the Sponsored Grants Pre-Award Electronic System, which will allow researchers to upload all materials for research proposals into one system. Officials say the new system, done in cooperation with Kuali Research Systems, is a far more efficient, less fragmented approach than the current one. The system also means SIU Carbondale and the SIU School of Medicine will employ the same system currently in use at SIU Edwardsville.
The system also will allow administrators to more easily compile reports on research activity. Officials expect the current installation to take about eight months, as they migrate previous data.
The new system is the first of two upgraded systems planned. The second system will support fiscal operations of all sponsored post-award management activities.
