SIU Day at the Du Quoin State Fair is Sept. 3
SIU is looking for campus units (academic units, departments, individuals, or student organizations) with activities or interactive displays to showcase during SIU Day at the Du Quoin State Fair on Sept. 3.
Fair hours are 10 a.m. to midnight, with SIU activities from noon to 6 p.m. SIU activities will be in the Second Heat building, located on Midway Drive across from the walk-in plaza (Gates 5-6). The building is air conditioned, with access to electricity and internet. There is outdoor space immediately outside the building for activities better suited to being outside.
SIU also has access to one of the free entertainment stages. If you have a performance or demonstration that is well-suited to a stage, please contact University Events and Protocol to discuss.
Admission to the fair is free, and parking on SIU Day is free to anyone with an SIU faculty/staff/student ID.
SIU will also have multiple entries in the Twilight Parade, the evening of Aug. 26. The parade route is less than 1 mile, and contained entirely on the fairgrounds. Entries may include vehicles, specialty or antique vehicles, floats, or groups of walkers.
