Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement enrollment is open
Faculty and staff are invited to join Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR), an education community of adults 50 and older who wish to continue learning and expand their horizons through peer learning and collaborative leadership.
Offered through Conference and Scheduling Services, membership includes monthly general meetings featuring a guest speaker; opportunities to enroll in SILIR-sponsored courses; social activities that include a monthly book club; a monthly newsletter, and opportunities to teach short-term classes in an area of expertise or interest. The curriculum is chosen, designed and usually delivered by members.
Membership is open to adults 50 and older living within commuting distance of Carbondale; the annual fee is $25. Faculty and staff are also invited to share their expertise as a community service activity.
