Media Advisory: SIU Day of Giving total, new partnerships with St. Louis area community colleges

ST. LOUIS – Saluki Takeover Tour St. Louis this week will include an announcement of the total funds raised from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Day of Giving and partnerships that will expand educational opportunities to students at two area community colleges.

Reporters, photographers, and news crews are invited to cover:

  • The kickoff event for the Saluki Takeover Tour St. Louis, which will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, 1 South Broadway. SIU Carbondale Chancellor Austin A. Lane and SIU System President Dan Mahony will host the event, which will also act as the finale for the SIU Day of Giving.   • Saluki Step Ahead signing, 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, Southwestern Illinois College, Seibert Conference Room, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville, Illinois. The Saluki Step Ahead program brings the expertise of a doctoral research university by providing qualified community college students the option to earn their bachelor’s degrees remotely and at a lower cost in six academic programs.
  • Saluki Step Ahead signing, 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, St. Louis Community College Forest Park, Center for Nursing and Health Sciences, Room 412A, 5600 Oakland Ave. St. Louis Community College is the first institution outside Illinois to join Saluki Step Ahead.
