Open Studio, C4 exhibition is Friday

Faculty, staff and the university community are invited to the annual Open Studio event hosted by students in the School of Art and Design’s MFA program starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29. 

The tour begins at 3 p.m. in the art foundry and then to the Pulliam Hall Industrial Wing at 3:30 p.m. The final stop is at the Studio Arts Building/Glove Factory at 4:30 p.m., where visitors can stay for the opening reception for the annual C4 exhibition at 5:30 p.m. 

The event is open to the public and admission is free. SIU is committed to protecting the community, so all those attending must follow current campus and state pandemic safety protocols and wear masks in shared indoor spaces. 

Visitors are invited to visit with each of the students to see and hear about their unique working process, see their work in progress, and ask questions. Artwork from many diverse media will be on display including sculpture, printmaking, glass, blacksmithing, ceramics, painting, digital media, metals, drawing, and various mixed media. 

The times and locations on Friday are: 

  • 3-3:30 p.m. – Art Foundry, 1560 W. Pleasant Hill Road, across the street from Evergreen Terrace Apartments.
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Pulliam Industrial Wing, 580 W. Grand.
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Glove Factory Surplus Gallery, 432 S. Washington, Ave., across the train tracks next to the Carbondale Police Department.
  • 5-7 p.m. – C4 Art Exhibition reception, Glove Factory Surplus Gallery.
