Media Advisory: 400+ students coming to today’s SIU Day to see academics in action

CARBONDALE, Ill. — About 430 students from 11 area high schools will take a tour of the campus, meet faculty and get a close look at academic programs at Southern Illinois University Carbondale during the first in-person SIU Day since 2019. Reporters, videographers and news crews are invited to cover the event, which starts at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 20, in Shryock Auditorium. 

After the welcome, students will tour campus from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., they will attend academic breakout sessions in various locales on campus to see academic programs in action. High school students may visit labs, experience technology and view creations by SIU students. 

The students from local schools are getting a preview of the spring SIU Day, which will be held in April. For SIU Day, schools send students to the campus. Today’s students come from:
