SIU Day at the Du Quoin State Fair is Sept. 6

Salukis will be highly visible during the 2021 Du Quoin State Fair as SIU Carbondale has several activities set, starting Friday, Aug. 27.

The fun begins with the annual Twilight Parade to open the fair, starting at 6 p.m. Friday. Chancellor Austin Lane, the Marching Salukis, Saluki Spirit squads, the School of Automotive and WSIU will all be participating, and there will be a flyover by the School of Aviation’s Flying Salukis.

The Touch of Nature Environmental Center will have its climbing wall at the fair both Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27-28.

The College of Liberal Arts will provide a virtual reality demonstration from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1. Faculty and staff from the School of Automotive, along with a display of vehicles, will be on hand to discuss the nationally known program during the USAC and ARCA races, Sept. 4-5.

SIU/College Day is set for Labor Day, Sept. 6. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to midnight. Parking is free for all SIU students, faculty and staff with a valid ID and everyone is encouraged to have fun and wear maroon!
