SIU offering vaccination clinics, gift cards for students

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccinations as the best strategy for protecting yourself and others from COVID-19, so SIU, in partnership with the Jackson County Health Department, is providing on-campus vaccination clinics. The clinics will take place every Wednesday in the Student Center’s TV lounge and every Thursday at the Student Health Center through Oct. 7. Both events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Thanks to a grant from the American College Health Association’s COVAC initiative, the first 300 students who receive their COVID vaccinations at the on-campus clinics will receive $10 Student Center Marketplace gift cards. Along with the gift cards, students will get information about the virus, its symptoms and the delta variant. The grant-funded program supports SIU’s “Protect the Pack” initiative, which encourages student vaccinations with Starbucks gift cards and entry into drawings for substantial prizes.
