Media advisory: SIU ROTC change-of-command ceremony set for Monday morning
Reporters, photographers and news crews are invited to cover a change-of-command ceremony for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Air Force ROTC detachment.
The ceremony is set for 10:30-11 a.m. Monday, July 12, at the saluki statue near the main entrance to Saluki Stadium and The Banterra Center. Inclement weather location is the upstairs lobby at Shryock Auditorium.
The ceremony will take place with outgoing commander Lt. Col. Anthony Anderson and incoming commander Lt. Col. Jessica Dwyer. The detachment commander leads all training, education, assessment and recruitment of prospective Air Force and Space Force officers enrolled at SIU, as well as students enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University and John A. Logan College.
The ceremony will include an exchange of the detachment’s flag and brief remarks from both commanders. SIU’s Air Force ROTC cadre will be present in official service dress uniforms and a saluki dog will be present, as well.
