Media advisory: Agreement between SIU and Carbondale Elementary School District 95
Reporters and news crews are invited to attend a signing ceremony on Thursday, May 6, for a new agreement between Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95. The pact will provide mentoring and educational opportunities, summer camps and collaboration between the university and the school district.
The signing ceremony will be at 12:15 p.m. in the commons area of Carbondale Middle School, 1150 E. Grand Ave., Carbondale. Participants from SIU will include Chancellor Austin A. Lane; Meera Komarraju, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs; Lori Stettler, vice chancellor for student affairs; Todd S. Bryson, associate chancellor for diversity, and other university representatives. For District 95, Superintendent Daniel L. Booth; Rachel Lathrop, Carbondale Middle School principal; and school board members, along with district staff and several students, will be present.
