Remember to review, update ‘People Finder’ profile

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) recommends that faculty and staff check their People Finder profile information periodically to ensure that it is correct. People Finder is an important tool to easily find contact information for faculty, staff and students. 

For employees, People Finder displays email addresses, departmental affiliations, classification titles, office locations and office phone numbers. For students, only SIU email addresses are listed. 

OIT emphasizes that updates are particularly important for faculty and staff when there is a change in an employee’s last name, SIU email address, office location, or phone number. It is also important to set “privacy status” preferences that allow employees to specify if any additional, non-essential information is shared. 

To make profile changes, open People Finder and use the “find options” to search for your profile. To change contact information, chose the “edit own entry” option at the top of the screen. A second window opens to show the contact information, as well as SIU-related information about you. 

Information that can be edited is clearly marked with an “edit” button and made in real-time. When finished, click “done” in the “edit/view your entry” box. No other action is needed. 

Making changes to information in the maroon fields, or restricted information, requires access to the HR Management System (HRMS).

  • Click the HRMS link located in the “edit/view your entry” box on the right to submit changes to restricted information.
  • Click the “change” button next to fields that need to be updated and provide the updated information. 

Once updated, an email is sent to the Department of Human Resources requesting the change and to you confirming that the request was received. Requests are usually completed within two weeks. 

If restricted student information needs to be changed, sign into the SalukiNet portal and select “Student/Faculty/Advisor Self-Service (SSB)” to request changes to personal information.
