Upcoming University Honors virtual forums set

The University Honors Program will be hosting two virtual forums, including a conversation that features a new book written by Jean-Pierre Reed, an associate professor in sociology.

Reed and John Foran, a sociology professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara will discuss Reed’s new book, Sandinista Narratives: Religion, Sandinismo, and Emotions in the Making of the Nicaraguan Insurrection and Revolution.” The work examines the cultural, ideological, eventful, and emotional factors behind the Nicaraguan insurrection and revolution. 

The forum is from 5 to 7 p.m. March 2. Registration for the free Zoom meeting is available in advance. After completing registration, participants will receive an email confirmation with information about joining the meeting, along with the meeting ID and password. 

On Feb. 27, University Honors will co-host a webinar “Why Academics Need to be Part of the Farmers’ Protests in India.” The forum is part of the Academic Freedom in India Webinar Series 2021. The event is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Registration for the Zoom meeting is also available.
