SIU’s Touch of Nature offering high ropes/elements course training

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center is hosting a specialized high ropes/elements training course this spring, giving people the chance to earn their Association of Challenge Course Technology certifications.

The class is set for April 19-22. Participants will gain experience on the zip line, flying squirrel, giant swing, climbing tower and multilevel high ropes course. New facilitators who want to become certified for high-elements as well as experienced facilitators seeking to improve their Level 1 skills will find the class valuable. After completing the course, participants will receive the one-year ACCT Level 1 Certification.

The course is offered in partnership with Experiential Systems Inc. and Camp Ondessonk. High elements sessions will be offered at Touch of Nature, located about eight miles south of Carbondale off Giant City Road as well as at Camp Ondessonk, located in rural Ozark.

The cost of the training session, including lunches, is $650. Overnight lodging, along with breakfast and dinner options, are available for an additional cost.
