Media Advisory: SIU immigration law expert available to comment on President Biden’s proposal
SIU Carbondale School of Law Professor Cindy Buys, who has worked extensively on immigration issues, will be available this week to provide perspective on President Joe Biden’s proposal to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws, including an eight-year pathway to citizenship for immigrants who do not have legal status and expanding refugee admissions.
Buys has worked in both public and private practice and has published articles and book chapters on immigration law. She oversees the law school’s immigration and detention project at the Pulaski County Detention Center and has worked on several asylum-related cases.
