by Pete Rosenbery

s200_timothy.lynch-sm.jpgCARBONDALE, Ill. – Timothy Lynch, an internationally recognized expert on American politics and foreign policy from the University of Melbourne in Australia, will discuss global expectations for the incoming Biden administration during a virtual conversation next week hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

The discussion, part of the institute’s “Understanding Our New World” series via Zoom, is at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Lynch is a professor of American politics at the University of Melbourne. He has taught in the United States, Australia, China and Europe. He is the author of several books including last year’s release, “In the Shadow of the Cold War: American Foreign Policy from George Bush Sr. to Donald Trump.”

Lynch is “a witty and shrewd observer of the United States” and knows the country well, said John Shaw, Simon Institute director.

“Professor Lynch will offer important insights about how the world is looking at the U.S. as Donald Trump’s presidency ends and Joe Biden’s administration begins,” Shaw said. “He will also provide a valuable international perspective on the attack on the U.S. Capitol last week.”
