Media advisory: Agreements between SIU and Girls Inc., East St. Louis schools
Reporters and news crews are invited to attend signing ceremonies in the St. Louis area on Monday, Jan. 11, for new agreements between Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Girls Incorporated of St. Louis and SIU and East St. Louis School District 189. These pacts will provide mentoring and educational opportunities, summer camps and potential scholarships.
The signing ceremony for Girls Inc. will be at 10 a.m. at Girls Inc., 3801 Nelson Drive, St. Louis. Participants include Chancellor Austin A. Lane, Director of Admissions John Frost and Associate Chancellor for Diversity Todd S. Bryson from SIU and Girls Inc. President and CEO Cheryl Jones. The signing ceremony for East St. Louis School District 189 will take place at 1:30 p.m. at East St. Louis Senior High School, 4901 State St., East St. Louis, Illinois. Participants include Lane, Frost and Bryson from SIU and school district Supt. Arthur R. Culver.
