Registration underway for Research and Creativity Virtual Expo
Faculty and their students have an opportunity on Nov. 4 to showcase their research and creative activities at the Research and Creativity Virtual Expo.
The second annual expo, which will be online via Zoom, is from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is a way for faculty to connect with current and future students from all levels and majors.
Faculty can choose one or more options to participate:
- Flash talks: Host a series of live or recorded 5-7 minute flash talks highlighting student research, creative activities or leadership experiences in your area.
- Q&A: Host a live discussion where students can drop in to ask questions about research, creative activities or leadership experiences in your area.
- Livestream: Create a 7-10 minute live experience highlighting a unique activity in your area. Examples could include a lab experiment or procedure, a “BigDawg” supercomputer application presentation, glass blowing, studio art or musical performance.
Students can learn more on possible research and creative opportunities across campus and gain insight into research-based and leadership programs, including the McNair Scholars Program, REACH (Research-Enriched Academic Challenge), Energy Scholars, University Honors Program, Innovation Fellows, Externship Program and more.
The virtual expo is free, but Zoom registration is required prior to the event.
For more information or to reserve a presenter’s room, contact Rhetta Seymour, director of the SIU McNair Scholars Program, at rseymour@siu.edu or 618-453-4585.
The virtual expo is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, SIU McNair Scholars Program and the Graduate Council’s Research Committee.
