Media Advisory – SIU Carbondale coronavirus update

Due to ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus in Illinois and beyond, SIU Carbondale is extending spring break for students through March 22. Effective Monday, March 23, classes will be offered in online or other alternative formats until further notice.

While no cases of COVID-19 have been identified on our campus, our primary concern is the health and safety of our community. SIU Carbondale is joining other Illinois public institutions in taking precautionary measures. See Chancellor John M. Dunn’s full message to the campus community.

University officials will hold a briefing for reporters tomorrow at a time and location to be determined.
