Hemp and cannabis symposium is set for March 28-CANCELED
CARBONDALE, Ill. — A March symposium about organic hemp and cannabis will provide practical information and tools for new and experienced growers, producers and processers.
The symposium is March 28 in the SIU Carbondale Student Center Old Main Room. The event will feature discussions about current research, rules and regulations, financial issues, insurance and security, as well as information about pre-season, in-season, and post-season production.
Registration is limited
The symposium will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is limited to the first 100 people to sign up. Those who register by Tuesday, March 3, pay the early price of $50. The event will cost $65 after that date.

Learn the latest
Experts from Illinois and Kentucky will provide the most up-to-date, relevant information on hemp and cannabis production. Discussions will include a look at hemp production in Illinois, SIU Carbondale research, rules and regulations, security, financial and insurance details, seed selection and propagation, seedbed preparation and weed control.
Other topics will include:
- Disease and pest identification and control.
- Irrigation and fertilization practices.
- Flowering and photoperiod identification and manipulation.
- Harvesting, drying and storage techniques.
- The chemistry involved in processing and marketing.
- THC/CBD sampling, testing and interpretation.
Exhibitors are welcome
Exhibitors and event sponsors are welcome. The exhibitor’s cost is $100 for a 6-foot table spot and includes lunch for two. Exhibitors may also register online.

The luncheon will feature a vendor fair with a wide variety of vendors demonstrating equipment and products. There will also be door prizes and time for networking.
