Media Advisory – SIU Carbondale students to participate in MLK Day of Service
Southern Illinois University Carbondale students will be honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a MLK Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 20.
The students will be volunteering of their time and energy at three different locations that day. Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the work that will take place at the Eurma C. Hayes Center, located at 441 E. Willow Street in Carbondale. Salukis will be working hard to clean, paint and assist in a variety of other ways from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Media may come any time during those hours to interview students and obtain engaging photographs and video.
SIU’s Office of the Associate Chancellor for Diversity and the Center for Service Learning and Volunteerism are spearheading the project. SIU students will also be volunteering their service at other locations in Jackson County.
