SIU Carbondale chancellor search underway

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The advisory committee leading a search for the next chancellor of Southern Illinois University Carbondale is soliciting applications and nominations for the position. Materials should be submitted by Dec. 31 to ensure the committee’s full consideration.

The search website, chancellor.siu.edu/search, includes a position description, timeline, a listing of the search committee and contact information.

The goal is for incoming SIU System President Daniel F. Mahony to recommend a finalist to the Board of Trustees in April. Mahony, who starts March 1, will be fully engaged with the search.

Chancellor Search Advisory Committee chair Marc Morris, director of the School of Accountancy, said the committee has been working behind the scenes to finalize the position description and publicly launch the search.

“We encourage and welcome applications, nominations and other questions,” Morris said. “This is an excellent opportunity for a visionary leader who will lead SIU into its next 150 years.”

WittKieffer, an executive search firm, is assisting the committee with the search. Applications and nominations may be sent to:
