Research and Creativity Recruitment Expo set for Oct. 2
Faculty and students are invited to participate in the inaugural Research and Creativity Recruitment Expo next month in the Student Center.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 2, in the Student Center First Floor Art Gallery.
Registration is under way for students or faculty to participate in the workshops or discussions.
This is an opportunity for faculty and programs to show the various undergraduate research and creative opportunities available to students. The Expo also provides an opportunity to submit a research or creative project by filling out the Opportunity Submission Form. Meanwhile, students from all levels and majors can participate in interactive workshops and network with faculty who are looking to engage students in their respective areas.
Student and faculty talks are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Expo will also feature two interactive workshops:
- 12:30-1:30 p.m. – DNA extraction and gel electrophoresis.
- 1:30-2 p.m. – Student performance studies.
The Expo goals are:
- Increase awareness of research and creative opportunities available to undergraduates
- Facilitate an inclusive research and creative campus environment by connecting underrepresented students to opportunities on and off campus.
- Showcase current undergraduate research and creative projects.
- Connect faculty with interested students.
- Recruit for McNair Program, REACH Competition, Energy Scholars, Innovation Fellow, University Honors Program, and Externship Program.
- Disseminate research/creativity interest inventory to collect student information and potential interest.
The McNair Scholars Program and the offices of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Associate Chancellor for Diversity are sponsoring the event.
