SIU will host pro fastpitch softball game July 27
Charlotte West Stadium will be the host site for the July 27 National Pro Fastpitch game between the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois and the Cleveland Comets.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and fans are welcome to stay after the game for an autograph session with players from the Wild. All tickets are $10 apiece and available at www.siusalukis.com/tickets.
With softball returning to the Olympics in 2020, the 2019 NPF season offers a unique opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek at the players who will compete for gold at the 2020 Tokyo games. The Wild features members of the Canadian national team, which currently ranks third in the WBSC women’s softball world rankings. The Comets entered a partnership this season with the Mexican national team, which ranks fifth in the WBSC world rankings.
The Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois play their home games at Rent One Park in Marion. Under a partnership with Softball Canada and SIU, players rent housing on campus to stay during the season and have use of the softball field, training facilities and the Student Recreation Center.
