Radiography graduates as well as Medical Dosimetry graduates score well on certification examinations

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Graduates from Southern Illinois University Carbondale undergraduate Radiologic Sciences and graduate Medical Dosimetry programs continue to excel on certification examinations.

Twenty-seven graduates recently passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination, yielding a 100 percent first attempt pass rate.

The Radiologic Sciences program’s feat will likely once again exceed the ARRT national average pass rate on first-time attempts. In addition to having higher scores than the national average, the pass rate on first time attempts has also exceeded the national average in each of the last four years. The national stats for 2019 will not be available until the end of the year.

Recent medical dosimetry graduates also achieve perfection

In addition, 19 August 2018 Master of Science Medical Dosimetry graduates also achieved a 100 percent first attempt pass rate on the national dosimetry exam offered by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB).  The program’s five-year average pass rate is 96.6 percent.

For this test cycle, the MDCB reports that 161 candidates took the exam from 18 different programs and there was an 83 percent overall pass rate, with a first-attempt pass rate of 89 percent.

Both programs are within the School of Allied Health.
