Media Advisory – SIU Day
Hundreds of students from four states have been invited to attend the second SIU Day at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on April 26 and reporters, photographers and news crews are invited to cover the event, set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Media may attend the opening ceremonies which will take place from 9-10 a.m. and the closing ceremonies from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Both will take place in the SIU Arena. Media are also welcome to come during the luncheon, set for 11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms.
Campus officials will speak during the welcome celebration and other activities are planned. During SIU Day, the high school students will also participate in a registered student organization and student services fair giving them a chance to see some of the activities and services offered on campus.
A variety of academic programs, campus facilities, services and units will also host about 40 different interactive demonstrations and activities to give the teens a chance to explore for themselves some of the many career, educational and student life opportunities the university offers.
