Media Advisory-600 students coming to SIU’s University Farms
Approximately 600 Pre-K to 2nd grade students from the southern Illinois region will be attending SIU’s College of Agricultural Sciences’ annual farm tour this week. From April 23-26, the students will learn about different agricultural fields including beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, pigs, service dogs, crops, forestry and wildlife, and equipment and safety.
Students will meet at the Metabolism and Physiology Center at 2422 Union Hill Rd. in Carbondale. Tour times vary throughout the week:
- 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with 80 students expected.
- 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, with 115 students expected.
- 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, with 45 students expected.
- 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Thursday, with 100 students expected.
- 9-11 a.m. on Friday, with 90 students expected.
These tours will allow students to experience and learn about agriculture in a hands-on way. Each station provided will discuss different aspects of that agricultural field, such as nutrition, health, safety and fun facts.
