New identity and access management system coming

The university and Office of Information Technology are implementing a new Identity and Access Management system that will replace the netid.siu.edu website. The first phase of the project will go live in late May and transition effect on faculty, staff and students is expected to be minimal.

The system creates and manages network access (Network ID) and gives faculty, staff and students access to available computing resources on campus.  The change will:

  • Improve methods used to manage network ID’s.
  • Strengthen security.
  • Meet audit compliance requirements.
  • Increase user’s abilities use self-service options to request or make network ID changes.
  • Gain network access and have it restored quickly.
  • Feature more intuitive screens and additional features.

Users will not have to reclaim their network ID account and current, unexpired passwords will remain the same. Users pertinent ID and password information will be moved, including existing security questions and answers, along with recovery email addresses and phone numbers.

The new self-service interface will be at netid.siu.edu.
