Tree Campus USA

Recently, SIU was named a Tree Campus USA for the fourth consecutive year. The university is one of just 364 universities and colleges across the country to win the designation from the Arbor Day Foundation. The annual spring tree planting is one of several reasons SIU continues to earn the special recognition.

Since the Arbor Day tree planting began, volunteers, faculty, staff and students have planted about 80 trees on campus. That number will grow on April 16.

Dress appropriately

Those volunteering to help plant trees are encouraged to dress for the work. Organizers suggest that in addition to taking into account the weather, volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and jeans. Organizers suggest that volunteers sign up if they are planning to participate.
