Robinson-Kain earns scholarship to SIU Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. – April Robinson-Kain of Herrin is the recipient of a Dean’s Transfer Scholarship at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for the fall 2019 semester. Scholarships are based on academic merit and potential for superior academic achievement in college. 

Robinson-Kain will graduate from John A. Logan College in May and is a graduate of Pacific High School in Pacific, Missouri. She is the mother of Tabatha Bourgoin of Johnston City and Joshua Kain of Herrin. 

Robinson-Kain is a 2018 member of the All-Illinois Academic Team and a Presidential Scholar. She is the 2018-19 president of Upsilon Pi and John A. Logan College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and a 2019 Trio advisory board member. She received the 2018 Auffenberg Companies Scholarship and the 2018 Lillian Hudgens, Eugene Hudgens, and Edith Bourne Memorial Scholarship. Robinson-Kain is a Cub Scout den leader for Pack 85. 

Robinson-Kain plans to major in history education at SIU Carbondale. 

SIU Carbondale is in the top five percent of public U.S. institutions for research. The university offers more than 200 majors, minors and specializations representing every key academic disciplinary area. In addition, a large number of scholarship opportunities are available.
