by Hannah Erickson

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Nine finalists are gearing up to compete for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s most prestigious art and design award, the Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award.

Established in memory of Joseph Rickert and the Rickert Family, the award recognizes outstanding graduating seniors from SIU’s School of Art and Design. Every year, seniors prepare for the selection process and compete for the honor, which includes a substantial scholarship.

A weeklong exhibit, set for April 1-6, follows the announcement of the finalists and gives an opportunity for faculty and community members to view the creative work. A final awards ceremony will present the winners on April 5 at the Surplus Gallery.
