Internal search launched for interim vice chancellor for research
The university is launching an internal search for an interim vice chancellor for research following Jim Garvey’s decision to step down after nearly six years in the role.
Chancellor John M. Dunn said information about the position and application process will be posted shortly on the human resources website.
“I am deeply grateful for Dr. Garvey’s advocacy for our research enterprise and his commitment to faculty and student research,” Dunn said. “I am very pleased that he will continue his own highly respected work and leadership as director of the Center for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences.
“Research and creative activities are core to our mission,” Dunn added. “I encourage all research-minded faculty to consider helping us fulfill this mission as interim vice chancellor.”
Garvey said he will continue to move the research office forward until the position is filled. Dunn noted there is a commitment to conduct a national search for the permanent position during the next academic year.
